Job Overview:
In this position, you will assess our current operations, identify weaknesses, conduct site surveys, install low voltage cabling, hardware and software necessary to fix them. This may include tasks as simple as installing firewalls or completely revising our wireless internet system. Additionally, supervise and manage quality assurance program for cable installations and products setup at customers’ locations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new Field Ops staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the Field Engineers.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for the team.
  • Processes weekly timesheets/expenses for the team.
  • Coordinates travel arrangements for team members.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting: The ability to investigate and fix network issues, including performance issues. 
  • Network design: The ability to plan, design a network, and install cabling that meets the needs of a business, including security, redundancy, and scalability. 
  • Network diagnostics: The ability to configure and troubleshoot network devices, and knowledge of protocols like TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF. 
  • Firewalls and security: The ability to maintain security and firewall software, especially if the network handles regulated data. 
  • Problem solving: The ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to problems. 
  • Automation: The ability to use new tools to automate tasks. 
  • Organizational and mentoring skills: The ability to work independently and collaboratively. 
  • Expertise in network operating systems: The ability to work with network operating systems. 
  • Experience with network diagnostic tools: The ability to use network diagnostic tools. 
  • Must have excellent communication skills to explain technical issues to clients and build strong customer relationships. 
  • Quality management: Ensure that the product meets company and regulatory standards. 
  • Collaboration: Work with project engineers, project managers, and developers to ensure quality is maintained throughout the development process. 
  • Documentation: Document test procedures and software documentation to ensure compliance and technical accuracy. 
  • Feedback: Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality. 
  • Planning: Plan test schedules and strategies to meet project scope and delivery dates. 
  • Review: Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents. 

Senior Field engineers should have a thorough understanding of complex IT networks, network security, and telecommunications systems. They should also have strong problem-solving and communication skills, and be able to lead junior engineers

Education and Experience:
  • The candidate must reside in the New York area
  • Able to provide visuals upon request of completed installations or site surveys conducted
  • Ability to travel on short notice & do frequent air travel as required
  • A valid US Driver’s license & ability to operate a vehicle
  • Ability to work weekends and “off hours” as needed to support customer and business needs
  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certification required (Electronics, Fiber, Optical or Mechanical) is required
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience or proven tenure in the field that can be validated with references
  • Computer skills, familiar with Microsoft Office, Confluence, and similar software applications
  • Work in office 25% of the time, with 75% fieldwork
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and customer service skills
  • Data analysis experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated experience in driving customer satisfaction and work process improvement
  • Conduct site surveys/checkups for jobs.
